Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Video Journalist course is designed to train individuals in the complete process of visual news storytelling, combining the roles of reporter, camera operator, and video editor. The course covers story development, scripting, on-camera reporting, shooting techniques, sound recording, lighting, video editing, and post-production for news, documentaries, and digital platforms.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Video Journalism: Role and scope of video journalism in modern media, Differences between video journalism, traditional reporting, and documentary filmmaking, The solo video journalist (VJ) workflow and responsibilities, Ethics and storytelling principles in visual journalism, Understanding audience expectations across platforms, Evolution of video journalism in digital newsrooms.
Module 2: Pre-Production and Story Planning: Identifying and developing story ideas suitable for video, Research and scriptwriting basics for visual storytelling, Planning shots, locations, and interviews, Preparing interview questions and scheduling shoots, Legal and ethical considerations (permissions, releases), Building a shot list and production schedule.
Module 3: Camera Operation and Field Shooting: Basics of camera types (DSLR, mirrorless, mobile), Framing, composition, and camera movement techniques, Understanding lighting and sound in field conditions, Conducting interviews on camera, Shooting B-roll and establishing shots, Troubleshooting gear and shooting in dynamic environments.
Module 4: Audio and Video Editing Techniques: Introduction to video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve), Organizing footage, timelines, and media assets, Cutting, trimming, and sequencing clips for narrative flow, Adding voiceovers, subtitles, music, and effects, Color correction and audio leveling basics, Exporting and formatting for various platforms.
Module 5: Mobile Journalism and Digital Distribution: Using smartphones and apps for professional video reporting, Editing and publishing from the field, Livestreaming techniques and tools, Distributing videos on social media, YouTube, and news platforms, SEO for video content and thumbnail optimization, Monitoring analytics and audience engagement.
Module 6: Professional Practice and Career Growth: Building a video journalism reel and online portfolio, Freelance vs newsroom-based video journalism, Pitching video stories to editors and platforms, Networking with newsrooms, NGOs, and visual media agencies, Staying updated with gear, formats, and storytelling trends, Safety, ethics, and credibility as a video journalist.
