Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Ship Broker course is designed to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and skills required to act as intermediaries between shipowners, charterers, and buyers in the shipping industry. The course covers ship types and markets, charter party agreements, sale and purchase contracts, freight rate negotiations, market analysis, and maritime regulations.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Ship Broking and Maritime Industry: Overview of ship broking and its role in shipping, Types of ship brokers: sale & purchase, chartering, and tanker brokers, Key stakeholders in maritime trade, Shipping markets and vessel types, Regulatory framework and maritime conventions (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL), Maritime terminology and documentation basics.
Module 2: Chartering Principles and Practices: Types of charter parties: voyage, time, and bareboat charters, Charter party clauses and conditions, Negotiation and drafting of charter agreements, Freight rates and payment terms, Laytime and demurrage calculations, Handling disputes and claims.
Module 3: Sale and Purchase of Vessels: Process of buying and selling ships, Due diligence and vessel inspections, Negotiation and drafting of sale contracts, Documentation and transfer of ownership, Financing and legal considerations, Market analysis and valuation techniques.
Module 4: Market Analysis and Freight Trading: Understanding shipping markets and cycles, Freight rate assessment and index analysis, Spot and forward freight markets, Use of market intelligence and data tools, Risk management and hedging strategies, Reporting and advising clients.
Module 5: Documentation and Legal Compliance: Preparation and handling of shipping documents, Compliance with international maritime laws and regulations, Customs and port formalities, Insurance and liability considerations, Handling cargo claims and disputes, Recordkeeping and audit readiness.
Module 6: Professional Skills and Ethics: Communication and negotiation skills, Client relationship management, Ethical practices and professional standards, Time management and organizational skills, Use of digital tools and platforms in ship broking, Capstone project: simulate a full ship broking transaction from charter negotiation to contract finalization.
GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:
- Duration- 60 minutes.
- Number of Questions- 30.
- Number of Questions from each module: 5.
- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
- There is no negative marking in any module.
