Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Publishing Professional course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end publishing process across print and digital formats. The course covers core areas such as content acquisition, editorial development, design and layout, production, marketing, distribution, and rights management. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to the Publishing Industry: Overview of the global publishing ecosystem, Types of publishing (trade, academic, educational, digital, self-publishing), Key roles and responsibilities in publishing (editor, designer, marketer, distributor), Publishing lifecycle from manuscript to market, Evolution of publishing with technology, Ethical practices and legal framework in publishing.

Module 2: Editorial Process and Content Development: Manuscript acquisition and assessment, Editorial stages (developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading), Working with authors and literary agents, Creating style guides and editorial calendars, Fact-checking and content accuracy, Managing revisions and author communication.

Module 3: Design, Formatting, and Production: Book and publication design principles, Page layout, typography, and image handling, Software tools (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, CorelDRAW), Print production vs digital formatting (ePub, PDF, mobi), Prepress, proofing, and print-ready file preparation, Coordinating with printers and production teams.

Module 4: Publishing Platforms and Distribution: Understanding ISBNs, metadata, and cataloging, Distribution channels for print and digital (retailers, wholesalers, libraries), Print-on-demand vs bulk printing, Global distribution platforms (Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Google Books), Managing logistics and inventory, Rights, licensing, and DRM in distribution.

Module 5: Marketing, Publicity, and Sales: Building a publishing brand and marketing strategy, Developing marketing plans and launch campaigns, Book promotion techniques (reviews, influencers, social media), Author branding and online presence, Organizing events and media outreach, Tracking sales, ROI, and customer engagement.

Module 6: Business and Career Development in Publishing: Publishing project and team management, Budgeting, pricing, and royalty models, Contracts, copyright, and intellectual property management, Setting up a publishing business or imprint, Career paths and freelance opportunities in publishing, Continuing education, certifications, and industry networking.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
