Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Print Journalist course is designed to develop core competencies in traditional journalism focused on newspapers, magazines, and other print publications. The course covers news writing, feature writing, interviewing, headline creation, fact-checking, editing, and layout principles. Participants will learn how to identify newsworthy stories, conduct ethical reporting, and write with clarity, accuracy, and impact.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Print Journalism: Definition, history, and role of print journalism in society, Structure and operations of a newspaper or magazine newsroom, Types of print media (dailies, weeklies, magazines, tabloids), Responsibilities and ethics of a print journalist, Differences between news, features, editorials, and opinion pieces, Understanding deadlines and editorial cycles.
Module 2: News Gathering and Research Techniques: Identifying and evaluating newsworthy topics, Building and maintaining reliable sources, Interview techniques for print reporting, Fact-checking and verifying information, Using archives, public records, and official documents, Covering beats: politics, crime, education, business, etc.
Module 3: Writing and Structuring for Print Media: Inverted pyramid structure and writing sharp leads, Crafting clear, concise, and objective reports, Writing headlines, subheads, and captions, Story development: transitions, quotes, and background, Feature writing and long-form storytelling, Editing and proofreading for grammar, clarity, and coherence.
Module 4: Editorial and Opinion Writing: Writing editorials, op-eds, and columns, Research and argument construction for persuasive writing, Understanding editorial policy and voice, Differentiating fact from opinion in content, Balancing criticism with responsible journalism, Writing book, film, and product reviews.
Module 5: Layout, Design, and Visual Elements: Basics of newspaper and magazine layout, Role of typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy, Working with images, infographics, and charts, Headline writing and placement principles, Understanding dummy pages and print formats, Collaborating with designers and sub-editors.
Module 6: Print Media Ethics, Law, and Career Growth: Press laws, defamation, copyright, and journalistic rights, Ethical dilemmas: sensationalism, privacy, bias, Code of conduct and regulatory bodies (PCI, IFJ, etc.), Freelancing vs staff positions in print journalism, Building a strong writing portfolio and clips, Networking and upskilling for evolving print media careers.
GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:
- Duration- 60 minutes.
- Number of Questions- 30.
- Number of Questions from each module: 5.
- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
- There is no negative marking in any module.
