Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Photojournalist course is designed to train individuals in the art and responsibility of visual storytelling through photography within the context of journalism. The course covers technical photography skills such as camera operation, lighting, composition, and image editing, alongside journalistic principles including ethics, caption writing, news values, and story context.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Photojournalism: Role and impact of photojournalism in modern media, History and evolution of photojournalism, Differences between artistic photography and journalistic photography, Ethics and responsibilities of a photojournalist, Understanding news values in visual storytelling, Famous photojournalists and iconic images.
Module 2: Camera Basics and Technical Skills: Types of cameras and lenses used in photojournalism, Understanding exposure: ISO, shutter speed, aperture, Manual vs automatic modes and their applications, Focus, white balance, and metering techniques, Shooting in RAW vs JPEG, Maintenance and care of photography equipment.
Module 3: Field Photography and Storytelling Techniques: Planning and preparing for photo assignments, Composing compelling images: rule of thirds, framing, leading lines, Capturing emotion, action, and context in news settings, Covering events, protests, natural disasters, and human-interest stories, Working under pressure and in unpredictable environments, Gaining access and working with subjects ethically.
Module 4: Photo Editing and Post-Production: Introduction to editing software (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop), Cropping, color correction, contrast, and sharpening, Ethics of editing and manipulation in journalism, Preparing images for print, web, and social media, Metadata, captions, and credits for journalistic use, Batch editing and workflow organization.
Module 5: Legal, Ethical, and Safety Considerations: Understanding copyright and image usage rights, Privacy, consent, and model releases, Ethics in covering vulnerable groups and sensitive events, Avoiding staged or misleading imagery, Safety protocols for conflict and disaster zones, Dealing with harassment, trauma, and high-risk environments.
Module 6: Career Development and Publishing: Building a professional portfolio and online presence, Pitching photo stories to editors and agencies, Working with wire services, magazines, newspapers, and NGOs, Freelancing vs staff photojournalism roles, Networking with media organizations and galleries, Participating in contests, grants, and exhibitions.
GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:
- Duration- 60 minutes.
- Number of Questions- 30.
- Number of Questions from each module: 5.
- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
- There is no negative marking in any module.
