Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified News Editor course is designed to develop the editorial, analytical, and managerial skills required to curate, refine, and manage news content across print, broadcast, and digital platforms. The course covers news judgment, editorial planning, content structuring, headline writing, fact-checking, grammar and style correction, and compliance with ethical and legal standards.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Fundamentals of News Editing: Role and responsibilities of a news editor, Types of news and editorial formats (print, digital, broadcast), News values and elements of a strong news story, Understanding newsroom hierarchy and workflow, Balancing speed with accuracy in breaking news, Ethical standards and editorial judgment.
Module 2: News Writing and Content Review: Editing for clarity, accuracy, and objectivity, Improving structure, grammar, and flow of news articles, Headlines, subheads, and captions: writing and editing, Ensuring factual consistency and coherent storytelling, Reducing bias and sensationalism, Using style guides (AP, Chicago, etc.).
Module 3: Fact-Checking and Legal Compliance: Verifying quotes, sources, and statistics, Collaborating with fact-checkers and reporters, Avoiding defamation, libel, and copyright violations, Ensuring compliance with editorial policies and laws, Correcting misinformation and issuing retractions, Ethical decision-making in sensitive reports.
Module 4: Editorial Planning and Newsroom Coordination: Creating and managing editorial calendars, Assigning and prioritizing stories, Coordinating with reporters, photographers, and sub-editors, Managing coverage of live events and breaking news, Conducting editorial meetings and briefings, Monitoring deadlines and content flow.
Module 5: Digital News Editing and Multimedia Integration: Editing for web, mobile, and social media platforms, SEO best practices for news headlines and content, Embedding multimedia elements (images, video, infographics), Managing hyperlinks and metadata, Tools for real-time editing and publishing (CMS platforms), Adapting traditional editing for digital-first journalism.
Module 6: Leadership, Career Development, and Innovation: Building and mentoring editorial teams, Decision-making under pressure and editorial leadership, Navigating newsroom challenges and conflict resolution, Innovations in digital journalism and AI tools, Building a professional editor portfolio, Career paths and industry networking for news editors.
GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:
- Duration- 60 minutes.

- Number of Questions from each module: 5.
- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
