Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/TL/CMHEO/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Material Handling Equipment Operator course is designed to provide participants with the practical skills and safety knowledge required to operate various types of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, stackers, and conveyors. The course covers equipment types and functions, pre-operation inspections, load handling techniques, maneuvering in confined spaces, weight distribution, hazard identification, and emergency procedures. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Material Handling and Equipment Types: Basics of material handling in logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing, Importance of safe and efficient material movement, Categories of equipment: manual, semi-automated, and automated, Overview of commonly used equipment: pallet jacks, forklifts, conveyors, hoists, cranes, and AGVs, Selection criteria for material handling equipment (MHE), Role and responsibilities of a certified MHE operator.

Module 2: Equipment Operation, Controls, and Maneuvering Techniques: Familiarization with operational features of different MHE, Pre-operational checks, startup, and shutdown procedures, Handling controls: levers, pedals, steering, speed control, Techniques for loading, lifting, stacking, and unloading, Safe maneuvering in tight spaces, aisles, and docking areas, Operator posture, balance, and ergonomics while operating equipment.

Module 3: Load Handling, Stability, and Capacity Management: Understanding load limits, center of gravity, and load charts, Load assessment and securing techniques, Fork positioning, tilting, lifting, and lowering best practices, Handling fragile, hazardous, or oversized materials, Preventing tip-overs, spills, and product damage, Use of attachments (clamps, rotators, booms) for specialized handling.

Module 4: Workplace Safety, Hazards, and Emergency Response: Common hazards in material handling operations (collisions, rollovers, pinch points), Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, Safe travel practices: visibility, signaling, speed control, Emergency procedures for spills, accidents, and equipment failure, Fire safety, pedestrian awareness, and restricted area compliance, Safety signage, floor marking, and hazard communication protocols.

Module 5: Maintenance, Inspection, and Regulatory Compliance: Daily and periodic equipment inspection checklists, Routine maintenance and reporting of faults or wear, Battery and fuel management: charging, refueling, ventilation, Equipment logbooks, maintenance records, and downtime tracking, Compliance with OSHA/ISO standards for MHE operation, Certification, licensing, and operator competency requirements.

Module 6: Practical Training, Performance Evaluation, and Certification: Hands-on training in operating various MHE types in simulated or real environments, Practical exercises in load lifting, stacking, palletizing, and reversing, Error identification, correction, and safe task completion under supervision, Performance assessment through safety drills and operational tests, Operator behavior, discipline, and teamwork on the warehouse floor, Final evaluation and certification for safe and efficient equipment handling.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
