Objective: The Certified Journalism Professional course is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in the principles, practices, and ethics of journalism across multiple formats—print, broadcast, and digital. The course covers core areas such as news gathering, reporting, interviewing, writing, editing, fact-checking, and media law. Participants will also learn about newsroom operations, editorial decision-making, and the use of digital tools for multimedia storytelling, data journalism, and social media reporting.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Foundations of Journalism: Definition and role of journalism in a democratic society, Evolution and history of journalism globally and in India, Types of journalism: print, broadcast, digital, investigative, etc., News values and the structure of a newsroom, Responsibilities, rights, and challenges of a journalist, Principles of accuracy, objectivity, fairness, and public interest.
Module 2: News Gathering and Research Skills: Identifying newsworthy stories and sources, Interviewing techniques and preparation, Conducting background research and using credible sources, Field reporting and observation methods, Verifying facts and identifying misinformation, Working with documents, public records, and data.
Module 3: News Writing and Storytelling Techniques: Basics of news writing: inverted pyramid, lead writing, structure, Crafting headlines, subheads, and captions, Writing features, editorials, and human-interest stories, Integrating quotes, context, and narrative flow, Writing across platforms: print, web, mobile, voice, Editing for clarity, accuracy, and conciseness.
Module 4: Media Law, Ethics, and Press Freedom: Understanding media laws: defamation, contempt, copyright, privacy, Press freedom and constitutional protections (Article 19(1)(a)), Regulatory bodies and journalism codes of ethics, Ethical reporting on conflict, trauma, children, and marginalized groups, Dealing with bias, paid news, and conflicts of interest, Legal responsibilities and journalistic accountability.
Module 5: Digital Tools and Multimedia Journalism: Introduction to digital journalism and social media reporting, Using smartphones and apps for field reporting (MoJo), Basics of photojournalism, podcasting, and video editing, SEO, analytics, and audience engagement online, Creating and curating multimedia content (text, video, audio, graphics), Tools for verification, digital safety, and secure communication.
Module 6: Professional Practice and Career Growth: Building a journalism portfolio across formats and platforms, Freelancing vs full-time roles in media houses, Pitching stories and working with editors, Networking with journalists, associations, and mentors, Exploring beats: politics, environment, crime, health, economy, Covering global trends in journalism, innovation, and audience-centric reporting.
GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:
