The course covers demand forecasting, procurement, cold chain management, medical inventory control, supplier coordination, warehousing, last-mile delivery, and reverse logistics.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Healthcare Logistics and Supply Chain: Overview of healthcare logistics and its impact on patient care, Components of the healthcare supply chain: procurement, warehousing, distribution, Types of medical supplies: pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, diagnostics, Role of logistics in hospitals, clinics, and emergency medical services, Stakeholder coordination: suppliers, hospital staff, government agencies, Regulatory and ethical considerations in healthcare logistics.

Module 2: Procurement and Inventory Management in Healthcare: Strategic sourcing of medical products and vendor selection, Inventory classification: consumables, critical care items, and controlled substances, Inventory management techniques: EOQ, ABC, VED, and JIT, Cold chain logistics for temperature-sensitive medicines and vaccines, Stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO) and expiry management, Use of ERP and inventory tracking tools in hospitals.

Module 3: Medical Warehousing and Distribution Systems: Design and layout of healthcare warehouses and medical stores, Storage standards for drugs, sterile items, and hazardous materials, Order fulfillment and picking processes for healthcare facilities, Internal distribution systems in large hospitals and health networks, Third-party logistics (3PL) and outsourced warehousing services, Safety, cleanliness, and compliance in medical storage facilities.

Module 4: Transportation and Cold Chain Management: Medical transport modes: road, air, courier, and emergency delivery, Packaging and labeling for compliance and patient safety, Cold chain logistics for biologics, vaccines, and blood products, Temperature monitoring tools: data loggers, IoT sensors, Handling urgent and life-critical shipments (STAT orders), Regulatory compliance: WHO, GDP, GWP, and national guidelines.

Module 5: Risk Management, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance: Regulations: WHO standards, FDA, CDSCO, NABH, ISO 13485, Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and quality assurance in logistics, Risk management in healthcare logistics: theft, damage, recall, Incident tracking, non-conformity reporting, and CAPA planning, Audit readiness and documentation control in supply chain processes, Disaster response and emergency preparedness logistics.

Module 6: Technology, Sustainability, and Performance Optimization: Digital tools for healthcare logistics: ERP, WMS, RFID, and blockchain, Demand forecasting and analytics for hospital supply chain efficiency, Sustainability practices in packaging, disposal, and green logistics, Key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarking in healthcare logistics, Staff training and competency development in logistics roles, Capstone project: logistics improvement plan for a healthcare facility.
