Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Health Journalist course is designed to train individuals in accurately and responsibly reporting on health, medicine, wellness, and public health issues. The course covers essential journalism skills with a focus on health communication, scientific research interpretation, interviews with medical experts, data analysis, and reporting on health policies and crises.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Health Journalism: Role and scope of health journalism in society, Differences between health reporting and general reporting, Importance of accuracy, responsibility, and ethics in health news, Key audiences and their information needs, Historical evolution and major trends in health journalism, Overview of global health systems and institutions.
Module 2: Understanding Medical and Scientific Information: Basic medical terminology and healthcare concepts, Reading and interpreting clinical studies and journals, Understanding statistics, risk, and evidence levels, Distinguishing between correlation and causation, Communicating scientific uncertainty and emerging research, Interviewing medical professionals and researchers.
Module 3: Reporting on Public Health and Policy: Covering public health issues (vaccination, epidemics, mental health), Reporting on health crises and emergencies (COVID-19, outbreaks), Understanding health policies, laws, and reforms, Investigating health disparities and social determinants, Role of WHO, CDC, and health ministries, Accessing public health data and government sources.
Module 4: Ethical and Legal Aspects of Health Reporting: Respecting patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA, local laws), Avoiding sensationalism and misinformation, Balancing public interest with medical accuracy, Ethical use of images and patient stories, Covering controversial topics (abortion, drugs, alternative medicine), Managing sponsorships and pharmaceutical influences.
Module 5: Multimedia and Digital Health Journalism: Creating engaging content for digital platforms (blogs, videos, podcasts), Using visuals and infographics to explain health data, SEO and headlines for health content, Social media reporting and misinformation tracking, Tools for verifying viral health claims, Mobile journalism in health reporting.
Module 6: Career Development and Specialization: Building a professional health journalism portfolio, Freelance vs newsroom roles in health media, Pitching health stories to publications and outlets, Specializing in beats like nutrition, mental health, policy, or research, Networking with scientists, NGOs, and health professionals, Staying updated with medical advances and health literacy trends.

- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
