Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/AT/CGQCI/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Garment Quality Control (QC) Inspector course is designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge to inspect garments at various production stages to ensure adherence to quality standards and buyer specifications. The course covers fabric inspection, measurement and fit checking, sewing quality, defect identification, use of inspection tools, sampling methods, and documentation of inspection results. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Garment Quality Control: Overview of Garment Quality Control (QC), Role of QC Inspector in Garment Manufacturing, Key Principles of Quality Assurance in Garment Production, Types of Quality Checks in Garment Manufacturing (Incoming, In-process, Final), Importance of QC in Reducing Defects and Waste, Key Quality Standards and Certifications (ISO, AQL, etc.).

Module 2: Garment Construction and Quality Parameters: Understanding Garment Construction (Seams, Stitching, Fitting, and Finishing), Common Defects in Garment Construction (Loose Stitches, Skewed Seams, etc.), Assessing Fabric Quality for Garment Production, Measuring Garment Dimensions (Length, Width, Hem, etc.), Evaluating Garment Fit and Comfort, Quality Parameters for Various Garment Categories (Formal, Casual, Sportswear).

Module 3: Inspection Techniques and Tools: Manual Inspection Techniques for Garments, Tools for Inspecting Garment Quality (Measuring Tapes, Magnifying Glasses, Light Tables), Visual and Physical Inspection of Garments, Techniques for Detecting Defects (Stains, Pilling, Snags, Holes), Methods for Color Matching and Dyeing Consistency, Testing for Fabric Strength and Durability (Tensile, Tear Strength).

Module 4: Defect Classification and Reporting: Classifying Garment Defects (Major, Minor, Critical), Identifying the Causes of Defects (Production, Fabric, Machine Settings), Using AQL (Acceptable Quality Levels) in Garment Inspection, Recording and Reporting Defects in Inspection Reports, Documenting Non-Conformities and Corrective Actions, Communicating Defect Information to Production Teams.

Module 5: Final Garment Inspection and Compliance: Final Inspection Procedures for Garments (Visual, Functional, and Packaging), Testing for Garment Performance (Shrinkage, Stretch, Color Fastness), Checking for Labeling and Packaging Compliance, Verifying Finished Garment Specifications (Size, Color, Style), Final Quality Assurance and Release for Shipment, Adhering to Regulatory Standards and Customer Specifications.

Module 6: Continuous Improvement and Sustainability in Garment QC: Implementing Continuous Improvement in Garment Quality Control (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing), Preventing Defects through Process Optimization, Role of QC in Sustainable Garment Manufacturing (Eco-friendly Materials, Waste Reduction), Auditing Garment Quality and Performance, Best Practices for Maintaining Consistent Quality, Emerging Trends in Garment Quality Control (Automation, AI).

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
