Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Costume Designer course is structured to equip participants with the artistic, historical, and technical knowledge necessary to design costumes for film, television, theater, and live performances. The course covers costume history, fabric selection, character analysis, fashion illustration, and construction techniques. It emphasizes the role of costume design in storytelling, character development, and period accuracy.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Fundamentals of Costume Design: Introduction to costume design, Role of costume in character development, Historical overview of costume in performing arts, Understanding different performance mediums (theatre, film, TV), Reading and analyzing scripts for costume needs, Basic fashion and costume terminology.
Module 2: Elements of Design and Visual Communication: Line, shape, and silhouette in costume, Color theory and symbolism, Texture and fabric interaction, Pattern and print usage, Proportion and scale in design, Mood boards and visual storytelling.
Module 3: Costume Research and Character Analysis: Period and cultural costume research, Identifying costume styles across eras, Character profiling and psychological dressing, Costume plot and scene analysis, Visual references and documentation, Integrating costume with set and lighting design.
Module 4: Costume Drawing and Illustration: Sketching basics and fashion croquis, Technical drawing of garments, Hand rendering with pencils, markers, and paints, Digital illustration tools and techniques, Annotating costume sketches, Creating costume presentation boards.
Module 5: Materials, Construction, and Fitting: Fabric types and properties, Pattern making and draping basics, Garment construction and sewing techniques, Costume fitting and alterations, Fabric dyeing, aging, and distressing, Costume finishing and detailing.
Module 6: Professional Practice and Industry Application: Working with directors and production teams, Costume budgeting and resource planning, Time management and scheduling, On-set wardrobe supervision and continuity, Career paths and portfolio development, Ethics and sustainability in costume design.
GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:
- Duration- 60 minutes.
- Number of Questions- 30.
- Number of Questions from each module: 5.
- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
- There is no negative marking in any module.
