Objective: This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the role and responsibilities of an Apparel Sampling Coordinator. Key areas covered include sample development, communication with design teams, material sourcing, and coordination with factories.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Module 1: Introduction to Apparel Sampling: Overview of the Apparel Sampling Process, Role and Responsibilities of a Sampling Coordinator, Types of Samples (Proto Samples, Fit Samples, Sales Samples, Production Samples), Importance of Sampling in Apparel Production, Workflow of Sampling from Design to Manufacturing, Communication with Design, Production, and Merchandising Teams.

Module 2: Sample Development and Design: Understanding Design Tech Packs and Sample Requests, Working with Designers to Translate Concepts into Samples, Fabric Selection and Sourcing for Samples, Pattern Making and Adjustments for Sampling, Techniques for Creating Accurate and Representative Samples, Managing Sample Approval and Revisions.

Module 3: Fabric and Material Sourcing for Sampling: Overview of Fabric Sourcing for Samples, Collaborating with Suppliers for Material Procurement, Evaluating Fabric Quality for Sample Production, Material Testing for Garment Samples (Shrinkage, Colorfastness, Durability), Sample Cutting and Material Waste Management, Understanding Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs) for Samples.

Module 4: Sample Production Process and Coordination: Scheduling Sample Production Timelines, Coordinating with Sampling Departments and Factories, Managing the Sample Production Process from Prototype to Final Sample, Overseeing Quality Control and Fitting of Samples, Communicating with the Production Team on Modifications, Handling Sample Lead Times and Delays.

Module 5: Fitting, Testing, and Approvals: Conducting Fit Sessions for Samples, Evaluating Sample Fit, Style, and Function, Adjusting Sample Patterns and Design Details Based on Fitting Results, Understanding Testing Requirements for Samples (Fabric, Durability, Safety), Collecting Feedback from Buyers and Merchandisers, Sample Approval and Finalization Process.

Module 6: Documentation, Reporting, and Sampling Records: Maintaining Accurate Sample Documentation (Tech Packs, Fitting Notes, Revision History), Reporting Sample Progress and Issues to Management and Stakeholders, Sample Costing and Budget Management, Record Keeping for Sample Development and Approvals, Managing Sample Inventory, Analyzing Sample Efficiency and Identifying Process Improvements.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
