Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Knit Design Specialist course aims to develop in-depth knowledge and practical skills in knitwear design and production. The course covers various knitting techniques, yarn properties, stitch structures, machine operations, and garment construction specific to knit textiles. Participants will learn how to create innovative knit patterns, troubleshoot production challenges, and optimize design for comfort, fit, and aesthetics.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Knitwear Design: Overview of Knitwear Design, History and Evolution of Knit Fabrics, Different Types of Knitted Fabrics (Weft Knits, Warp Knits, etc.), Basic Knitting Processes and Techniques, The Role of a Knitwear Designer, Key Applications of Knitted Textiles (Fashion, Sportswear, Home Textiles).
Module 2: Knitting Technology and Techniques: Knitting Machine Types (Flat Bed, Circular, Jacquard), Basic Knitting Stitches and Patterns, Understanding Stitch Density and Gauge, Techniques for Shaping Knits (Increase, Decrease), Special Knitting Techniques (Intarsia, Fair Isle, Textured Knits), Innovations in Knit Design Technology (3D Knitting, Digital Knitting).
Module 3: Knitwear Fabric Properties and Performance: Fiber Selection for Knit Fabrics, Impact of Fiber Properties on Knit Design, Elasticity and Stretch in Knitted Fabrics, Durability and Maintenance of Knitwear, Thermal and Breathability Properties of Knits, Sustainable Fabrics and Eco-friendly Materials in Knitwear Design.
Module 4: Knitwear Design Software and Tools: Introduction to Knit Design Software (Stoll, Shima Seiki, etc.), Using Software for Pattern Creation and Modification, Creating and Simulating Knit Patterns Digitally, 3D Visualization and Virtual Prototyping in Knit Design, Color and Texture Management in Knit Design Software, File Formats and Data Exchange in Knit Design.
Module 5: Knitwear Construction and Manufacturing: Knitting Process from Yarn to Fabric, Understanding Knit Structure and Its Impact on Fabric Behavior, Garment Construction Techniques for Knitwear, Knitwear Production Management (Batch vs. Continuous), Quality Control in Knitwear Manufacturing, Costing and Sourcing for Knitwear Production.
Module 6: Trend Analysis, Market Research, and Future of Knit Design: Forecasting Knitwear Trends and Innovations, Analyzing Market Demand for Knitted Textiles, Researching New Knitwear Designs and Materials, Sustainability in Knitwear Design, Collaboration Between Designers and Manufacturers, Future Directions in Knitwear Design and Smart Textiles.
GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:
- Duration- 60 minutes.
- Number of Questions- 30.
- Number of Questions from each module: 5.
- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
