Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Citizen Journalist course is designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills to responsibly report news and stories from their communities using accessible tools and digital platforms. The course covers core journalism principles such as accuracy, objectivity, ethics, fact-checking, and legal awareness, along with practical skills in mobile journalism (MoJo), writing news articles, capturing photos and videos, interviewing, and using social media for dissemination.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Citizen Journalism: Definition and evolution of citizen journalism, Differences between professional and citizen journalism, Role of citizen journalists in democratic societies, Impact of social media and mobile technology, Case studies of influential citizen journalism, Ethics and responsibilities in public reporting.
Module 2: News Writing and Storytelling Techniques: Basics of news writing (who, what, when, where, why, how), Writing clear and concise headlines and leads, Structuring reports using the inverted pyramid, Narrative storytelling in grassroots journalism, Quoting sources and attribution practices, Writing for blogs, websites, and social media.
Module 3: Mobile Journalism and Multimedia Reporting: Using smartphones for capturing photos, videos, and audio, Mobile apps for editing and publishing, Live reporting and streaming techniques, Creating infographics and visual content, Tips for shooting quality content on the go, Multimedia storytelling best practices.
Module 4: Research, Verification, and Fact-Checking: Gathering information from credible sources, Identifying misinformation and fake news, Verifying facts before publishing, Using open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools, Interviewing techniques and ethics, Responsible use of user-generated content.
Module 5: Legal, Ethical, and Safety Considerations: Freedom of speech and legal protections, Privacy rights and defamation laws, Ethical dilemmas and journalistic integrity, Handling sensitive topics and reporting in conflict zones, Protecting identity and sources, Digital security and personal safety in the field.
Module 6: Publishing, Distribution, and Audience Engagement: Choosing the right platforms (YouTube, Twitter, blogs, podcasts), Building a personal brand and audience, Engaging with readers and managing feedback, Collaborating with news networks and NGOs, Monetization options and fundraising, Long-term growth and credibility as a citizen journalist.
GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:
- Duration- 60 minutes.
- Number of Questions- 30.
- Number of Questions from each module: 5.
- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
- There is no negative marking in any module.
